Only Jesus

Pastor Joshua reflects on the mysterious and miraculous Transfiguration of Jesus, as told to us in the Gospel of Mark 9:2-8, and we hear the Lenten invitation to draw closer to our Savior.

Our passage ends, “And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but only Jesus.” Only Jesus. In these words we hear an invitation. An invitation to be present with God, to let ourselves get caught up in God’s sweeping story of redemption and restoration in and through Jesus Christ. An invitation to be surprised by the hope of his life, death and resurrection.

No matter where you find yourself: whether you’re just beginning to explore the claims of Christ, whether by God’s grace you’ve been caught up in Christ from early on in your life, or whether you’re a bit skeptical of it all, I want you to hear the invitation this morning: the invitation to know Christ, to trust in Jesus alone as your Savior, your Rescuer, your Redeemer. He knows perfectly what is competing in your heart with affection for him—and he wants to win us for himself, to draw us closer to the One who is God’s Beloved Son.
