Love God

Welcome
Prayer
Song – “Rock of Ages”

Verse 1
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in Thee;
let the water and the blood,
from Thy wounded sided which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.

Verse 2
Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
this for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Verse 3
Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to Thee for dress;
helpless, look to Thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die,
wash me, Savior, or I die.

Verse 4
While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I rise to worlds unknown,
and behold Thee on Thy throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in Thee.

Message – “Love God”

Scripture: Matthew 22:34-38, Mark 12:28-30
Speaker: Pastor Joshua Scheid
Series: Pressing On

Am I pressing on?

1. What is it that Jesus says?
[Love God]
with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your mind, with all your strength
(cf. Deuteronomy 6:1-6)

Even though we cannot know God [fully],
we can know God  [truly].

2. Why does he speak of it as a commandment?

Our love for God is a response to his love for us,
but it is nonetheless something that we must do.
It's a matter of our will. It is something you can
either [press into] or [pull back] from.

3. How do I press on in loving God?

The Bible is the living, powerful Word of God for us,
don't let it shrink into something sterile
that just sits on your shelf.
